“There
is a maxim – on the face of it rather perplexing –
that whatever is achieved in the way of development of consciousness
in the world does something to further the evolution of the
consciousness of every single being, even if such a being has not
actually worked at the development of his own consciousness.”
— Rudolf Steiner,
The Work of Secret Societies in the World,
lecture given December 23rd 1904 in Berlin.
The e.Librarian has said, “Accumulating information is the first
step toward knowledge, sharing information is the first step toward
community.” To this end, our initiatives are devoted to creating
and enhancing an online Library with an Anthroposophical emphasis,
striving to provide what is of interest to the community, a
‘community’ encompassing the entire world.

The goal of our initiative is to disseminate knowledge as widely as
possible, in the belief that access to knowledge furthers the spiritual
and intellectual growth of all of humanity. We are entirely electronic
making our materials available to anyone with internet access. By doing
so, we are able to serve many who have difficulty using regular
libraries, whether because of geographic, economic, or physical
limitations.
Serious research and study are greatly facilitated through the power of
databases and the sophisticated online tools we provide, including the
ability to compare two versions of a text side-by side, whether
different translations, or a translation and the original German.
The e.Lib, Inc. is the not-for-profit company that receives and
processes contributions for The e.Lib, Fine Art Presentations —
e.Gallery, KnowNews dot Net, and this site, the Rudolf Steiner Archive.
We are incorporated in the State of Michigan as a not-for-profit
corporation, and are an exempt organization under IRS section 501(c)(3),
which means that contributions to us are tax deductible. For more
